memory

Dynamic RAM is memory that must be refreshed.Static RAM does not need to be refreshed and it is used for cache memory.Synchronous Dynamic RAM is synced with the CPU clock.DDR is data read on rising and falling edges of the computer clock to double the bandwidth of the SDRAM. It is 184-pin, 64-bit DIMM.DDR2 is faster than DDR with 240-pins.Single ranked DDR uses one DDR module in a single slot.Double ranked DDR useds two DDR modules in two slots to double the bandwidth to the system bus.DIMM is Dual Inline Memory Module. It is a form factor also. DIMM can have 168, 184, or 240-pins. The pins on both sides are independent.SoDIMM is a small outline DIMM used in notebooks. 72-pin is 32-bits and 144-pin is 64-bits.MicroDIMM is smaller than a SoDIMM and used in sub-notebooks. 144-pin SDRAM and 172-pin DDR.The RIMM or Rambus Inline Memory Module has 184 or 168 pins. 16 or 32 bits, 800-1600 MHZ and 2 notches. Each RIMM slot must be filled. Other than that, I knew everything else. But. very good video. =]
